Dear Ones:

2025—A good year!

One year in our new apartment

On December 20, 1924, we moved into our new apartment. It has been a joy to live there and to be able to use my new study to learn and to teach. I meet once a week with a man to learn Hebrew I also teach through Zoom to a lady overseas. In October we had an open house and invited our neighbors and friends in to see it and to meet us. There were 44 people here including 12 neighbors.

Travels and visits

In March, Pat and I joined John and Linda for a trip to Virginia, and we all attended Chantilly Bible Church’s mission conference. Son Ken came up for a weekend and took us to see Noah at Sight and Sound in Lancaster. Special time with him. Dawson and Kate came up in May with their son, Samson. They now have a second son, Azariah John. A very pleasant boy. In May, an old friend, Ralph Weitz, who leads religious oriented tours in Philadelphia, came up and took a group from our church. I went along, but after a half day of walking, I sat on a church park bench and waited for them to finish.

Our annual family reunion took place at granddaughter’s home in NC. John and Linda drove us down. We went to SC first to visit old friends. I also spoke to the small group I used to lead in our church there. Much joy. See our photo of the reunion at the end of the letter. We had 28 of our 36 family members there. Now there are 37 and one more coming in March. Ken came again in August as did Rick, Jo, and Jo’s mother. We attended the state fair with the latter.

A highlight of our summer was a three-week visit to France. Kevin met us in Paris, and we took the train to Lyon. We took in a few sites and then Michelle and Leonie flew over from Ireland. What a sweet time we had with them. Her husband, David, came over for a couple of days also. Jeremy came down from Paris. We visited an old friend, Michel Boher and his new wife in Annecy, where we had lunch together. I spoke twice. We came home on the 30th much satisfied with a wonderful visit.

Other events

Pat’s shoulder began to hurt, and the pain became so severe, we decided to go for a replacement. On December 2, she had a reverse replacement and is now in the process of a three-month recovery. She continues her treatments for macular degeneration. It has now moved to the right eye, so she gets a shot in each eye every six weeks. I lost my last sister in October. Eight of my siblings have died, and I am left with one brother. Judy was a delightful woman who really loved the Lord. She was a favorite in the family. In November a dear friend and veteran missionary came from NJ, and, for two days, we watched a series of lectures on archaeology.

Our health

We both turn 91 this year (Pat in January). We are in pretty good health. We are very happy here, making new friends and keeping up with old ones. We give God all the glory for our 72 years together and for our wonderful children. He changed the trajectory of our lives and brought us to places we never expected to go. I will be teaching (d.v.) at our church in June/July on 2 Samuel. I have projects I’m working on as well.

May God’s richest grace rest on you!

PS: I have several books available on Amazon that are reasonably priced. My favorite book is God Rules among Men, an Integrated Harmony of Samuel Kings Chronicles and Other Texts. However, it is the most expensive. If you decide you want it, I can get it for $25. Just let me know. Go to Amazon.com and type in Homer Heater Jr.

I have spent over 60 years in theological education. Most of that was at Capital Bible Seminary. I have great memories of the colleagues who ministered with me and hundreds of students we trained for the ministry.
